Crowdfunding the first ever

Bristol Grand Prix

"I am delighted to have the Bristol Grand Prix taking place during Big Green Week, organised by Bristol people for Bristol people. I will be there on my bike leading the way!"

George Ferguson, Mayor of Bristol, 2015

In January 2015 I was commissioned by Bristol's Big Green Week board to secure the funding for the festival and to crowdfund for a new sporting fixture - the first ever city centre Bristol Grand Prix Cycle Race.

The race was an important element of the Bristol Green Capital 2015 programme, promoting cycling as a healthy, sustainable alternative to car travel in the city, a message which was central to the Green Capital year.

This, our second major crowdfunding challenge raised £16,299 from race entrants fees, track-side banner sales, tshirt sales and corporate sponsorship and matchfunding.
