"We know from delivering the Bristol 2015 grants that there is huge energy in this city for exciting, impactful green initiatives. I welcome the Better Bristol platform and very much hope it will continue the momentum delivered by the Green Capital award, maximising crowdfunding opportunities for new projects, as well as offering businesses a new route to supporting local projects."
Andrew Garrad, Chair, Bristol 2015
In 2015 I introduced and cemented a partnership contract between Crowdfunder UK and Bristol Green Capital Partnership. I then worked strategically with both organisations and other partners in the city to deliver a city-wide rewards-based crowdfunding platform.
The 'Better Bristol' platform is designed to enable project owners (start-ups, businesses, social enterprise, arts etc) to raise funds for ideas which develop the legacy of Bristol's European Green Capital award. Local and regional businesses are invited to support projects which have been validated by the crowd.
Following a launch event in November 2015, I worked with Crowdfunder UK to deliver training workshops for Bristol projects which were really well attended and have already been enormously successful.
Projects which use the platform must in some way help to create a low carbon city with a high quality of life for all - the mission statement of the Bristol Green Capital Partnership.
